About Dermaplaning
at Skin Deep Aesthetics

Dermaplaning is a very effective and gentle way of removing superficial dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. At our Halifax studio, a medical blade is used to gently scrape off excess dead, dehydrated and damaged skin cells, giving your skin an incredibly smooth and radiant glow. Vellus hair is removed during the procedure allowing advanced skin care products to penetrate easily into the skin . You will love how polished your make-up looks on the skin after this very beneficial treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will the hair grow back thicker after dermaplaning?

No, this is one of the most common myths about dermaplaning. The vellus hair (peach fuzz) that is removed will grow back at the same thickness, color, and texture as before. Dermaplaning does not change the structure of the hair follicle. What you may notice is that the blunt edge of regrowth can feel slightly different at first, but the hair itself is unchanged.

How often should I get dermaplaning done?

Every three to four weeks is ideal, which lines up with your skin's natural cell turnover cycle. This keeps the skin smooth and allows products to absorb more effectively between sessions. I offer a package of three standalone sessions for $188, which makes regular treatments more affordable.

What is the difference between standalone dermaplaning and the Dermaplaning Facial?

The standalone dermaplaning treatment is 30 minutes ($75) and focuses specifically on removing dead skin cells and peach fuzz with a medical-grade blade. The Dermaplaning Facial is a full 1-hour session ($150) that includes the dermaplaning plus a complete facial treatment. If you want both exfoliation and a full skincare experience, the facial version is the way to go.

Can dermaplaning be combined with other treatments?

Yes, and it actually pairs beautifully with other services. Removing that top layer of dead skin and fine hair allows serums, peels, and masks to penetrate more deeply. You can also add Celluma LED light therapy to any dermaplaning session: 15 minutes for $30 or 30 minutes for $50.
